New Worship Service!
Something exciting is happening at Central Christian Church this week. We are beginning an experimental, new worship service!
What is it?
This will not be a “contemporary” service, but it will have some
contemporary elements. Instead of a traditional sermon, we will have
an interactive discussion of the scripture text in a relaxed atmosphere.
The easiest way to describe it is to say that it is a combination of
Sunday School and Worship. As a matter of fact, our tagline for
the service is “Learning About Our Faith Through Worship.”
Who Will Attend?
This service is designed for people who are young in their faith,
but not necessarily young in years. In other words, this is not strictly
a “young adult” or “youth” service.
Will This Take the Place of Sunday
School?
The service will be held during the Sunday School hour, but
it is not intended to interfere with Sunday School. Adventure to
BibleLand is the best option for young children. For Chi-Rho
and CYF, a combined Sunday School class will be available
for those who do not wish to attend the new service.
What Will Happen in the
Service?
This is an experimental endeavor. We are striving to teach
the basics of the Christian faith through the elements of worship,
conversation, and study.
Why Do We Need This
Service?
The traditional Sunday School model does not work for everyone.
People learn in different ways. In addition, our other services offer
pretty advanced theological ideas. This service is designed to help
those new to the faith to become acclimated to the life of discipleship.
This is an exciting time for our congregation. If you, or someone you know, might benefit from this new service, we encourage you to come check us out Sunday morning!
